What is Kinesiology and what can it do for me?

Kinesiologists are much more than a personal trainer. We hold a University Bachelor Degree in Kinesiology (which is the study of human movement) and have an in-depth understanding of human anatomy and proper movement patterns as well as the science behind different training types and intensities.

Whether it is a one-on-one session or a group program, your goals, health history and health conditions will be considered in every exercise or workout prescribed.

Kinesiologists are able to prescribe exercise for the following conditions or injuries.

  • Injuries resulting from a car accident (we bill ICBC)
  • Muscle, tendon and repetitive strain injuries
  • Parkinson's
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Joint replacements
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Osteoporosis
  • Cancer recovery

A large part of Kinesiology is prevention! With exercise you will develop your overall fitness and strength, you will notice improved mental health and morale. You may also improve your sleep and concentration.

We bill ICBC for MVA-related Kinesiology visits. Some insurance companies such as Blue Cross, SunLife and Canada Life have employers that list Kinesiology as part of the services they cover. Please contact your extended health insurance company and see if Kinesiology is covered under your Health Spending Account; we will NOT be direct-billing Kinesiology sessions at this time. Please consider becoming an advocate for the Kinesiology regulation process and coverage availability by sending a letter to your insurance company and MLA. (Letter templates can be found here)
