Hip and knee replacement Physiotherapy is grounded in strong clinical evidence showing that patient-centered, structured, progressive rehabilitation improves strength, mobility, and long-term joint function. Research supports early, targeted exercise and education to reduce pain, restore walking ability, and optimize outcomes before and after surgery. At Active Living Physiotherapy, our approach follows VIHA's current best-practice guidelines to help you acheive your goals return safely and confidently to daily activities and active living.
We are part of the VIHA voucher program
The Physiotherapy Voucher Program allows people who have had non-complex hip or knee replacement surgery to attend a private practice physiotherapy clinic to help with recovery.
If eligible, VIHA covers the cost of up to 10 Physiotherapy sessions for knee replacements and up to 4 Physiotherapy sessions for hip replacements. A voucher will be given to you as part of your hospital discharge package. We strongly recommend you book your physio appointments as soon as you know your surgery date so we can get you started on your physio journey in a timely manner.
Your participation and commitment plays a key role in your recovery from hip or knee surgery! Can't attend your appointment in person? No problem! You can take part in your physio sessions via telerehab (video appointment), as long as your first and last visits are attended in-person.

Studies also show - and we see it everyday - those that “prehab” prior to surgery have much better, faster recovery after surgery. We strongly recommend our "Active Living with Arthritis (ALA)" program if you want to get a head start on your joint journey!
